To get the feel of a Rukia/Kaien encounter, I spent a whole Friday reading volume 30 (I got it for Xmas) and watching and rewatching the anime episode. Then I read it as I watched it. Then I sat outside under a tree thinking... 'If I was Rukia and my mentor/only friend died and I killed him and I met him again and killed him again and then met him AGAIN how would I feel?' Crap like that.
